Concordia University Ann Arbor will honor graduates during its spring commencement and baccalaureate ceremonies on Sunday, May 15.
The day begins at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Trinity with a baccalaureate ceremony celebrating the blessings associated with higher education and the earning of a degree. Giving the sermon will be guest preacher Rev. Peter C. Marcis, senior pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon, Ohio and father of graduate Erin Marcis.
The commencement ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. in the Concordia Field House. Thirty-one graduate students and 103 undergraduate students are eligible for graduation, 115 of which will be walking in the ceremony.
CUAA alumnus Dr. Timothy E. Saleska, professor and dean of Ministerial Formation at Concordia Seminary, will deliver the commencement address. The student address will be given by Rachel Christina Johnston, who will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in biology.
The ceremony will also include the presentation of special awards, including Outstanding Alumnus, given to Travis Grulke of Stow, Ohio; Christus Primus, given to Julie Novak of Ann Arbor; and an Honorary Doctorate, given to Richard Sheridan of Ann Arbor.
“We are excited to take this opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication of our students and to honor those who helped them along the way,” said Kelsi Anderson, coordinator of Academic Operations.
