On Sunday, May 19, 2019, Concordia University Ann Arbor celebrated the Class of 2019 with a Baccalaureate service and commencement celebration.
Each year, a number of alumni and Concordia supporters are nominated for awards that honor excellence, a demonstration of Concordia’s values, and distinguished service to the Church and the world. Concordia University Ann Arbor’s 2019 award recipients are as follows:
Outstanding Alumnus Award
Rev. David A. Davis (’79)
The Outstanding Alumnus Award honors graduates of Concordia for reflecting in their lives and careers the values upon which the university is founded.

Commencement Speaker & Honorary Doctorate of Laws
Curtis C. Gielow
The Doctor of Laws degree is awarded to an individual who has rendered invaluable service to Concordia, the Church, the community, the state, or the nation, and comes from the ranks of business, religious, service, or political communities.

Christus Primus Award
William A. Gatz
The Christus Primus Award is a service award presented to clergy, educators, or laypersons of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. Recipients are recognized for their distinguished service to the Church and community.

Honorary Doctorate of Divinity
Rev. Terry Cripe (’74)
The Doctor of Divinity degree is awarded to an individual who is a member of the clergy, and who has demonstrated significant contributions in the area of leadership or service to The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.
