Concordia University Ann Arbor is emphasizing the importance of listening and sharing in love to frame the numerous upcoming campus events in celebration and recognition of Black History Month.
On Thursday, February 15, CUAA welcomed Rev. Victor J. Belton, vice president of leadership and campus pastor of sister-school Concordia College New York, as guest preacher in Concordia’s Daily Chapel service to share encouragement on how we are to love one another beyond Valentine’s Day.
Belton’s message, titled Listening in Love, was based off of chapter seven in Deuteronomy: Because you listen to these rules and keep and do them, the Lord your God will keep with you the covenant and the steadfast love that he swore to your fathers. Deuteronomy 7:12
“One day is not enough to listen in love,” said Belton. “We need a whole season of love, we need a whole month of love. This is our commandment: To love.”
Belton’s message is the launch to this month’s activities planned by CUAA’s Black Student Union, Campus Ministry, and Career Engagement and Industry Relations departments to honor and celebrate Black History Month.
In addition to Thursday’s themed chapel, Belton also spoke at Alpha Omega, CUAA’s monthly student fellowship gathering, on Thursday evening February 15.
