The Concordia Choir and Orchestra performed their third annual concert at the Hill Auditorium.
On April 24th at 7 p.m., the Concordia Choir and Orchestra performed their third annual concert at the Hill Auditorium. This performance was a beautiful arrangement of the Arborsong choir, wind ensemble, and the choir and orchestra playing together. With Dr. John Boonenberg directing the choral groups and Dr. William Perrine directing the orchestral groups, beautiful music filled the concert hall. The music was so moving, a standing ovation was given at the end of the concert.
The concert began with Arborsong singing Movements 1. Song and Music and 2. Remember from Two Rossetti Songs — Stephen Chatman. This moved into the Concordia Wind Ensemble performing multiple pieces, along with the Civic Orchestra, the Concordia Choir, and ended with the Choir and Orchestra combined.
There were many featured soloists throughout the night. “O del mio dolce ardor” from Paride ed Elena by Christoph Willibald Gluck (1714-1787) featuring Elijah Boye and Movement 1. Allegro con brio from Piano Concerto no. 1 in C Major, Op. 15 by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) featuring Calista Bickel were just some of the amazing soloists.
