Congratulations to Chris Bostrom, Erik Mroczek, Emily Greer, and Hannah Doan for their outstanding contributions to Concordia University Ann Arbor.

It’s Student Worker Appreciation Week at CUAA – when we take time out to express appreciation for all of our valuable student workers. We feel incredibly blessed and grateful to have what we believe is the best student workforce around!

We also recognize that there are some students who go above and beyond to exemplify outstanding work ethic and servant leadership. These Student Workers of the Year are nominated by our staff and faculty. The qualifications to be nominated include:

  • Exemplifies a strong, Christ-like character
  • Shows enthusiasm, dedication, initiative, and reliability in service to their department
  • Performs excellent work
  • Willingly goes above and beyond expectations
  • Has a mindset of service to others

Thank you all for your exemplary service to Christ in the Church, in the world, and at CUAA!

Our 2023 Student Workers of the Year!

Chris Bostrom, Career Engagement Studio

One ambassador I would especially like to note is Senior and CEIR ambassador Chris Bostrom. Chris is one of the Student Ambassadors here in the Career Engagement Studio and we (Joey-Lynn Bialkowski and Alisha Greaves) would like to nominate him as one of the “student workers of the year.” Chris has been a notable student worker for many reasons.

First, he has been a loyal team member of the Career Engagement Studio for three years. As a veteran student ambassador, Chris has taken the lead to show our other three student workers the reigns from class presentations, to executive introductions and leading event plans.

Chris, now a senior, is noted for his time management as he balanced being an HR major, playing football, and working in the studio. His dedication to this role was especially recognized recently at our Career Summit. Upon the ice storm that we had the week before, Chris lost power at his house and went home to Indiana. To make it in time for our 7 am shift to set up for the Career Summit, Chris left his house before 3 am to make it in time.

His five-star service that morning directing employers to the check-in was noted and appreciated by many. This act of dedication is one small example of how Chris has gone above and beyond as a student worker and why he deserves to be recognized as student worker of the year. We have been blessed and honored to have Chris as a student worker and will miss him after he graduates!

Emily Greer, School of Education

She is such a dedicated and hard worker. She is always willing to work on tasks even if they seem tedious or time-consuming. She has a positive attitude and gets along with the members of the department.

She’s reliable, courteous, and a positive presence in the office. She stops in daily to find out what needs to be done that day and once she is given her list, she completes it efficiently and correctly every time. I enjoy working with Emily and I think she deserves to be recognized as a Student Worker of the Year!

Erik Mrozcek, Buildings and Grounds

I am nominating Erik Mroczek for Student Worker of the Year.  He is always helpful, kind, always smiling, and just a great young man! He has worked for the Buildings and Grounds department for all 4 years and he has been a student worker!

Erik is a very service-oriented student worker.  He is always willing to come in when asked. One summer I texted him and he came on campus early to help out the grounds crew before the fall semester! He also works for the Athletic department and has worked in Campus Safety previously.

Hannah Doan

Hannah Doan, Admissions

Hannah Doan played a significant role in training our new ambassadors this fall. She is an exceptional leader and role model for her peers and one of our best tour guides. She is professional and personable when connecting with prospective students and their families.

Hannah gave a tour to a prospective fall 23 student that visited every Concordia and ultimately decided to attend CUAA partially because of the positive impression she made on them when giving their tour. Hannah also worked previously for the Registrar’s office for 3 years. She was very efficient and organized. She was a team player who was always willing to pitch in and learn new things.
