The first annual Concordia Student Scholars Expo will be held at Concordia University Ann Arbor on Wednesday, May 15, 10:30 a.m.—3 p.m.
The Concordia Student Scholars Expo (CSSE) is an opportunity for Concordia University students to present culminating academic work to a wide audience in an authentic and diverse setting. Over 60 students will be presenting from three of CUAA’s academic schools with involvement of more than a dozen faculty members.
A sample of the wide range of research topics include: “Eye-Gaze Interactive Technology for Users with Disabilities,” “Infection Control Relating to Contact Precautions in a Labor and Delivery Setting,” “The Effects of Video Game Play on Stress,” “Comparing and Contrasting Salivary Cortisol Levels in Undergraduate Students,” “An Assessment of 7th Grade Students’ Knowledge of Geometric Figures,” and “What Good Are Images in Church? A Catechetical View as Modeled by Luther.”
The event, free and open to the public, will include a poster session, refreshments, and numerous student led presentations on campus.
“The expo is an opportunity for students to showcase the vibrant academic work that occurs on our campus to a diverse audience. Students will also be able to demonstrate how their programs of study have prepared them for a career of service,” said CUAA’s Assistant Professor of Biology Lance Shultz, who has been spearheading the first annual CSSE.
The day’s presentation schedule includes students from various areas of academic study: computer science, nursing, psychology, biology, chemistry, education, theology. A complete schedule of topics and presenters is included below.
