Join Concordia University Ann Arbor for 'Discover Yamaha, a fun and interactive presentation that tells the amazing Yamaha story of innovation and its importance to music for the whole world.
Experience Yamaha’s incredible pianos and their possibilities—from acoustic concert grands to Clavinova digitals, and the most technically advanced piano in the world, the Yamaha Disklavier reproducing piano.
Discover Yamaha is free and open to the public, taking place in CUAA’s Kreft Recital Hall on Wednesday, January 29 at 4 p.m., 4090 Geddes Road.
Hosted by national Yamaha experts, Kirk Davis and Mark Barrett, this particular presentation will include a “remote lesson,” which means the presenters will connect two Disklaviers via internet, one on site and one a thousand miles away. This technology allows musicians to play each piano live remotely.
“All attendees can expect to learn who and what Yamaha really is and understand their uncompromising commitment to music education in the world,” said Kirk Davis of Yamaha Institutional Solutions Group. “This will be demonstrated by a presentation including conversation on the history of Yamaha and also the seeing and hearing of instruments incorporating the very latest music technology through live performance and hands on experience.”
Davis and Barrett will also be accompanied by Craig Knudsen, a music technology expert who works with the YouTube sensation The Piano Guys, and Greg Ondo, a Senior Technical Specialist for Yamaha who has presented over 2,000 seminars on music technology.
A highlight of the event will include a remote lesson where they will connect a Disklavier with another in Colorado—over 1,000 miles away—as each play the pianos live but remotely.
“Not only will ‘Discover Yamaha’ be fun, as attendees can try out the pianos and experience the latest technology, but it is also so very important all of those in attendance understand the many possibilities available in today’s music education,” said Davis.
