What does it look like to be full of active life? CUAA students can show you!
“For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” -1 Timothy 4:8 (NIV)
CUAA is dedicated to fostering the well-rounded growth of students in mind, body, and spirit. Whether as a student-athlete or not, nurturing physical health is fundamental to CUAA’s mission. Nestled on 197 acres along the Huron River, CUAA offers ample opportunities for outdoor activities and access to fitness facilities. Additionally, the Black Box theater hosts a variety of shows, enriching the campus experience with cultural and artistic events. With its vibrant campus life, CUAA provides a complete college experience for all students.
Intramural and Club Sports
Love being active, thrive on healthy competition, and enjoy meeting new people? CUAA’s intramurals offer the perfect opportunity to bond with friends and make new connections through sports! With offerings like volleyball, basketball, flag football, dodgeball, and more, intramurals promote campus community and provide a fun way to hone your athletic skills. Whether it’s a multi-week season or a day-long tournament, both undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty and staff, can join in. Rules are tailored to ensure fair and enjoyable competition, whether on coed or non-coed teams.
Department of Theatre
Concordia’s theatre program offers a rich array of performances throughout the academic year. Mainstage Productions receive comprehensive technical support and feature both fall plays and spring musicals. Auditions occur at the start and end of the fall semester, with rehearsals held weekday evenings to accommodate students’ schedules.
Student Series Productions, including one-acts, scenes, radio shows, cabaret, and children’s theatre, provide opportunities for student leadership and run throughout the year.
The annual Boar’s Head Festival in December brings together students, faculty, staff, and community members for a captivating reenactment of medieval Christmas traditions and the story of Christ’s birth.
Theatre involvement is encouraged for students across all disciplines, offering opportunities for performing, assistant directing, stage management, and behind-the-scenes roles.
CUAA Student-Athletes
- Team Chapels: Every Thursday, student-athletes gather for Daily Chapel, joining their teammates for worship. While some athletes also attend chapel individually on other days, the designated team worship day serves as a poignant reminder that their commitment to each other transcends the field.
- Team Prayers and Devotions: Before competitions you can look forward to meaningful opportunities for prayer or devotions.
- Alpha Omega: The monthly “house parties” provide all students, with a special focus on student-athletes, the chance to come together for fellowship, food, and to hear Christian testimonies in the communal space of one of the residence halls.
- SALT: Student athlete leader team comprises leaders from various athletic teams collaborating to enhance the student-athlete experience, engage in campus and community activities, and support one another wholeheartedly.
- Athletes in Action: At Concordia, we wholeheartedly endorse student leaders eager to elevate their faith and that of their teammates through Athletes in Action (AIA). AIA offers Gospel-centered insights into current sports news and athletic culture. CUAA students gather in both large and small groups for fellowship, spiritual growth, and fostering deeper connections. Each AIA group leader is matched with a staff or coach mentor for guidance, encouragement, and accountability.
