CUAA Church Work

Concordia University Ann Arbor Directory of Pre-Seminary Rev. Ted Hopkins, PhD gives monthly updates on church work programs including Applied Theology, Biblical Studies, Christian Thought, Family Life Ministry, Lutheran Teaching Diploma, Parish Music, Pre-seminary, Pre-deaconess, and Theological Languages.

Merry Christmastide! CUAA’s 2020 fall semester is in the books, and it was a semester of change but also growth for our students.

From the pre-seminary program

Our pre-seminary students delved into first year Hebrew and second year Greek. They studied the Scriptures to see Christ at the center of the Bible, and they learned to articulate the Gospel of Jesus Christ crucified and risen. Despite all the changes of 2020, our God is the Unchanging One, whose character of love and grace never wavers and whose promises never fail. Our students learned to rely even more on him as they grew in his Gospel and toward his ministry.

Refer a church worker

As 2021 begins, I ask that you make a New Year’s resolution to identify at least one young man or woman in your congregation who would make a good church worker. Then, begin talking to him or her about the beauty and worth of this calling as pastor, deaconess, or director of family life ministry, encouraging them to pray and think about whether this calling might fit their passions and talents. God’s Spirit will work through the Word to bring people to say with Isaiah, “Here I am! Send me!” It is our job simply to be bold in speaking the Word of our unchanging God.

God’s peace be with you all,

Rev. Ted Hopkins, PhD
