Faculty from CUAA in the Department of Physical Therapy attended the 2023 Educational Leadership Conference (ELC) in Philadelphia, PA October 12-15th.

ELC 2023 is a combined conference of the American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) Academy of Education and the American Council of Academic Physical Therapy (ACAPT), it is the only conference focused exclusively on Physical Therapy education. The conference is aimed at providing Physical Therapist (PT), Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) faculty, and clinical education instructors and partners; with current research and best practices for the promotion of excellence in physical therapy education.

Several faculty (Dr. Kendra Dunsford, Dr. Robert Frampton, and Dr. Melissa Kieffer), presented at the conference highlighting the role that Faculty Coaching has in the development of Faculty to prepare Master Adaptive Learners in the Physical Therapy program. Dr. Susannah Steele, presented on how to link course activities to outcome assessments. The presentation described a framework implemented to thoughtfully plan and assess student learning activities and to integrate assessment data across the curriculum to systematically track and analyze student learning outcomes. The planning and assessment process used by all faculty and across all courses provides not only a structure for planning and assessment, but also fosters team collaboration, organizational learning, and ongoing preparation for accreditation and reaccreditation processes.
