Meet Anastasia Brown (’26) from Lutheran North, majoring in Elementary Education with a Lutheran Teaching Diploma.
Why should someone from Lutheran North consider CUAA?
Concordia is a great place to attend school after going to Lutheran North! With more responsibilities and independence in college, it may be easy to lose focus on what is most important in life. As a Lutheran university, Concordia has helped me keep Christ at the center of all I do. There are also some aspects of Concordia that are similar to North such as content covered in certain classes and daily Chapel.
How did Lutheran North High School prepare you for life after high school?
Academically, Lutheran North prepared me well for the college classes I have taken so far. I also developed great study habits and writing skills that will help me in the future.
What has been the impact of a Lutheran education in your life?
I have been blessed to have a Lutheran education my whole life. My teachers in the past have pointed me to Jesus through their care and integration of faith in class. They have now inspired me to do the same! As I study Lutheran education, I hope to shine Jesus’ love to my future students in the classroom.
Has any teachers or professors impacted your life while at CUAA?
I have been impacted by so many wonderful teachers who put Christ first in their classrooms. The same is true at Concordia. As I pray to develop qualities that would make a great educator, I am so thankful for all of my past teachers who have been examples to me.
What is the most underrated element of CUAA?
The fact that Concordia is a small campus seems to drive people away when deciding on college. However, this was one of the main reasons I chose Concordia. It has been a wonderful home away from home. I have been blessed with daily opportunities to grow in my faith, getting to know my professors due to small class size, and meeting people from different states.
What is your favorite spot on campus?
I love the view at Chapel point overlooking the river!
What drew you to Concordia?
There were many aspects of Concordia that drew me here. I knew I wanted to be a Lutheran teacher, so it made sense to go to a Lutheran college with a great education program. I also wanted to continue playing my violin, so I was able to join the CUAA orchestra! I also love that Concordia is smaller in size and not far from home.
What has been your favorite class here at CUAA and why?
My favorite class so far has been Biblical Theology. I really enjoyed this class because it organized Christian beliefs based on Scripture in a logical way. I was also challenged to explain the doctrines on my own through various writing opportunities.
