Campus is abuzz in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as new students check in and unpack their belongings, settling into their new home for the first time at Concordia University Ann Arbor.
New student move-in day, August 23, 2018, is one of many move-in days for CUAA students who arrive at various times depending on fall athletic involvement, marching band camp, student leadership training, and more.
“There are a few days in life that many families remember, and this is certainly one of them. The excitement, anticipation, and energy of move-in day can be felt by anyone on campus today,” said Assistant to the President and Campus Pastor Rev. Dr. Ryan Peterson. “We’re grateful for the opportunity to walk with these students and families during this critical season of transition and change.”
The 2018 theme for CUAA’s orientation programming is “Live in 3D: Dream. Discover. Do.” Each day of will encompass events and activities surrounding those three key words, with the events culminating on the third day as students, faculty, and staff go and ‘do’ throughout the city for a Day of Service on Saturday, August 25.
Students will begin fall semester classes on Monday, August 27.
The theme for the 2017-18 academic year is More Than Conquerors, chosen by students and campus ministry leaders last April. Based off chapter 8 in Romans, the theme verse reads:
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Romans 8:37 ESV
“Our school theme, More Than Conquerors, is a powerful reminder that God will never lose His grip on us. Because of Christ’s work—His life, death, resurrection, and exaltation—our victory is guaranteed,” says Peterson. “Truly, nothing can separate us from this love of God. It is a love that endures and extends beyond our imagination.”
Opening service will be held on Monday, August 27 in the Chapel of the Holy Trinity. Preaching the message will be Concordia University’s President, Rev. Patrick T. Ferry, Ph.D.
CUAA’s admission application is open for the 2019-20 academic year. High school seniors are encouraged to learn more about becoming a Concordia Cardinal at www.cuaa.edu.
