Who is ex-CIDER-ed for fall?

Autumn in Michigan: Is there anything like it?

Sweaters, pumpkins, cider, football – what’s not to love? Fall is also the perfect time to visit an apple orchard. Not only can you take home bushels of fresh, crispy apples at a fraction of the cost, but most apple orchards also offer cider and donuts (yum!), pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and more!

Here are three apple orchards near campus that you can check out this fall:

Wiard’s Orchard’s & Country Fair

5565 Merritt Rd, Ypsilanti, MI 48197

If you are looking for a fun weekend adventure, Wiard’s Orchard’s and Country Fair is the place to go! They don’t just grow apples, they also have enjoyable activities for the whole family, including an animal petting farm, corn mazes, giant bouncy houses and western wagon rides. At their Country Store and Bakery you can find a variety of fresh pies, hand-dipped caramel apples, delicious jams and more!

They are located in Ypsilanti, only 9 miles from campus and their hours include Wednesday-Friday, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday & Sunday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

On their farm they have more than 150 different varieties of apples growing, including a few heirloom varieties that are no longer available in grocery stores. But it doesn’t end there. Each weekend they have new musicians come to sing and play lovely fall music. Cardinals, this is an Orchard you don’t want to miss out on!
