Noted Spanish trumpeter Jose Chafer Mompo will culminate a visit to campus highlighted by master classes and workshops for young trumpet players with a Saturday, February 11 concert in the Kreft Center for the Arts Recital Hall. The 8 p.m. concert is FREE and open to the public.

Mompo, whose CD entitled Spirit was awarded an Outstanding Achievement Award for classical instrumentalist from the Global Music Awards last March, conducts an active performing, recording and teaching schedule around Europe.  He is a member of the Brass Ensemble and Solo Trumpet with the Symphony Orchestra of the Teatro Chapi of Villen, Spain, and has served as Professor of Trumpet of the International Course of Music, “Villa de L’Olleria,” since 2004.

Mompo has presented master classes throughout the United States and Europe. “We are delighted to have such an internationally acclaimed trumpeter on our campus,” noted longtime Kreft Center for the Arts director Dr. Mark S. Looker, professor of English at CUAA.
